The Story So Far On Today Protest Held At Osogbo Campus On "No School Fees No exam Policy "

[KUDOS] Nigerian becomes millionaire selling snacks in UK

A Nigerian woman who turned down a £30,000 investment from Dragons’ Den panelist Peter Jones has revealed how she went on to forge a growing food business on her own.
London-based Chika Russell, 31, impressed the British entrepreneur and businessman with her line of Nigerian-inspired healthy snacks when she appeared on the hit BBC2 show last year.
However, she later decided to go it alone because she wanted more of a challenge and now has Waitrose and Whole Food’s among her stockists.
Explaining her decision to cut ties with Jones after wowing all five judges on the show, Chika, who is married with two children, Chialuka, four, and Zanni, three, said “I really wanted Peter Jones because of what he did with Reggae Reggae Sauce, but so much happened in the six weeks of due diligence.
“I hadn’t called it a business before. [Then I was] able to say: ‘I have belief in myself.’”
With a newfound confidence, Chika decided to go solo.
The former investment banker added: “I really wanted a mentor for guidance and partnership, and to help grow the business.
“I wanted someone who had been there and made the mistakes. Waitrose were coming on board and Boots had expressed an interest. I thought: ‘This could be global’.
“But I like a challenge, and felt if I had Peter Jones on board, then if Sainsbury’s showed interest I would have thought it was due to him. It wouldn’t be as rewarding.’
She launched her firm, Chika’s, in 2014, first stocking products at the Hotel Café Royal in Central London.
Her products – which include hand cooked plantain, chickpea crisps and nuts – are inspired by the flavours she experienced as a child, while splitting her time between London and her village in Anambra State, southern Nigeria.
In both environments she was surrounded by a large family which loved food, enjoying it as an integral part of any large gathering.
“These are the foods of my childhood in Nigeria and I wanted people in the UK to experience the same great flavours that I got to enjoy growing up,” she said of her inspiration.
Chika started by rustling up snacks in her kitchen and testing them on friends and family.
She then went about refining the flavours based on feedback.
In a flamboyant and bold pitch to the Dragons five months ago featuring African dancers, Chika asked for £30,000 for a five per cent stake in her business, telling them: “These are the foods of my childhood.”
She revealed how the products were already stocked in 150 outlets in the UK in just a year.
She told them: “I know what I’m doing. I’m already doing it – but I can do it better. And with your partnership, Chika’s can become an even more successful business and brand.
“Our products are super nutritious. All of our products are made from simple wholesome ingredients. Plantains, almonds, cashews, chickpeas and peanuts individually form the basis for our entire range.
“Nothing made in a lab and so you get products as nature intended with a little help of my creative side.”
Currently there are eight different products in the Chika’s range and there are plans to expand the offerings further.
“Expect something sweet and something spicy and something zesty,” the entrepreneur revealed.
Chika now has her sights set on growing her £1 million turnover.
She concluded: “The first sale is not difficult – it’s whether you get repeat purchase and thankfully we do.
“We know our products sell well because our retailers keep re-ordering and give us great locations within their stores. We have amazing things planned for the future.”

ASUU, sets to embark on indefinite strike

Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has threatened to commence indefinite strike, unless their demands are met by Federal Government, report claimed. President of the Union Biodun Ogunyemi, said on Friday, that an indefinite strike action may
be taken soon if the union's demands are not met by the Federal Government. The work-to-
rule is influenced by the failure of the Federal Government to implement the 2009 ASUU-FG
agreement, especially, the NEEDS assessment segment of it.

The ASUU President, Biodun Ogunyemi, has this to say: "Since the agreement was signed in 2009, there has been no significant step taken to implement it. It was the desire to speed up the implementation of the demands that the NEEDS assessment was conceived to
identify what each university needs, but the findings of the NEEDS assessment have also
not been implemented by the government that set it up. The union will embark on strike
if our demand is not met." The ASUU president also spoke on the recent
ban on varsities post-UTME exercise stating that it is a big step in the wrong direction. He
said that since the introduction of the Post- UTME tests, there has been considerable
improvement in the quality of students admitted into the universities as evident in
the declining dropout rate and called on all well-meaning Nigerians to intervene to avert
the looming crisis in the university system. Ogunyemi said, "The cancellation of Post-
UTME, to us, portends serious danger for the quality of education in this country. The
argument of the Federal Government on the policy is unacceptable and potentially harmful
to the future of Nigeria's education system.

We call on government to rescind its decision and convene a genuine stakeholders meeting
on the issue before making statement on the policy."
"We note that since the introduction of the post-UTME, the standard of education,
especially, that of the tertiary level has improved significantly. There has also been a
decline in the dropout rate in the country. The system was able to achieve these laudable
objectives because of the contribution of each
university into the standards that are required.

6 THINGS EVERY YOUNG IMMATURE GIRL SHOULD KNOW

6 THINGS EVERY YOUNG
IMMATURE GIRL SHOULD KNOW

When blood is young and raving
through your veins, you are ready
for an adrenaline rush all the time.
This is a transitional time, when
your body is experiencing physical
and psychological changes, thus
your emotions and hormones are in
turmoil.
Your mind and heart want to
experience the white waves on a
surf board, to feel the morning dew
on your bare feet. It is all about
discovering happiness, loneliness,
madness and “love”.
The mind and the heart are
innocent and pure. They are curious
as to what a puff of smoke feels like,
to feel the ecstasy of a fast drive or
to sit on the edge of the roof top of
a building.
It doesn’t know what fear is.
Don’t sell your soul to
the devil
This is the time when a girl needs to
remember who she is and what her
parents had cultured her to be in
her childhood. She needs to remind
herself constantly the difference
between good and bad so that she
doesn’t lose herself in the midst of
chaotic youth.
This is the time where she needs to
protect her soul and build an
incorruptible image to follow her, in
her years as an adult.
Boys are whatever –
friends are forever
Since the mind is very fragile at this
stage, it tends to make fickle
decisions. Young girls live in a la-la
land of illusion, where they give love
priority over friendships.
The feeling of love gets young girls
so excited, that it over powers every
other relationships they have. The
most sensitive of relationships you
have in your youth is the one you
share with your girlfriends. They too
are young and impulsive at this
time, so issues as small as “you
didn’t call me back” can break ties
forever.
Knock knock, girls. Boys will be
boys; they can’t be there to giggle
over a silly joke, or to go shopping
for that perfect lip gloss. Make your
friendships last, don’t lose them
over puppy love. It will be these
friends who will be trailing into
adulthood with you; meanwhile
there is no guarantee, whether if the
teenage boyfriend you are dying
for would turn out to be your true
flame.
Your best friend will always be there
to boost your morale on a blue day
or cheer for you when you ace an
interview. Best friends may not have
spoken to each other in ages but
will pick right back up from where
they left it, the last time they met.
So girls, don’t let go of your best
friends over petty issues, you will
need them to survive the upcoming
rollercoaster ride, they call
‘adulthood’.
You are beautiful
You are beautiful and don’t let
anybody tell you otherwise. It is an
earnest request; learn to appreciate
yourself and your body. Nurture
your soul and mind to become a
beautiful person, don’t tamper with
your body to satisfy other people.
Have a strong social foundation and
use that as your strength. Some
girls in the rush to feel accepted
make drastic changes, which may
tarnish them for life.
It’s very important to believe in your
inner beauty to bring that glow of
confidence on your outer beauty.
Aim for the long run
Set a long-term goal every year.
Write it on a piece of paper and put
it up on your dressing table mirror.
They should have substantial value,
like to achieve an A grade or maybe
lose 10 pounds of weight. Your
goals should be set to achieve a
purpose and they should have a
meaning in your life.
It should be something to make
your time worthwhile. Having a goal
in life will keep you focused and the
challenge will keep you motivated.
It will help you achieve something
bigger in life, as compared to those
who are still running around trying
to be in-vogue. To achieve
something later in life, you need to
start working on it today. Sow today
to reap tomorrow.
Set your boundaries
Be the gold that needs effort to be
dug out, be the flower that freshens
up the surrounding but will wilt if
touched. You should set your
boundaries as they are necessary
and healthy. Don’t let anyone bully
you or use you.
You need to define your space and
limitations as it’s up to you, to allow
a person in to your life. Human
nature is such that no one will have
the guts to invade your space
unless you allow them too. If you
stand up for yourself and you self-
esteem, no one can push you over.
A young girl is blooming and
growing getting ready to come out
of her shell and become a beautiful
butterfly. If you want to feel pretty
and respect yourself don’t let
anyone cross their boundaries. Go
after your dreams, laugh a lot; but
don’t let that fence down till
everyone you know, discerns why
you put it there.
Create memories
You are young only once. Go out
there and make memories. Go on a
date, ride the motorcycle, sing a
karaoke, bunk a class; but don’t
forget your values, your beliefs and
meaning of life.
These are the carefree years where
you should live a story to tell your
grandchildren every day. Taste the
spice of life but don’t have any
regrets.
You will only be young once so, live
your life to the fullest within your
boundaries and don’t let anyone tell
you otherwise.

MUST READ! Reason why you should not take your phone to the toilet again

After Reading This, You Will Never Use Your Phone In A Toilet Again

Sometimes we all take a phone into the toilet. But it is a very dangerous habit! You can expose yourself and others to germs like salmonella, E. Coli and C. “If you wipe your bum then pick up your phone, youmay as well not bother washing your hands because all the bacteria you put on your phone will end up back on your hands,” hygiene expert Dr. Lisa Ackerley told.
So what we all should do? Dr. Ron Cutler, director of biomedical science degrees at Queen Mary’s University London, said: “Basically, you just shouldn’t (take your phone into the toilet) if you are at all concerned about the transfer of viruses and fecal contamination.” He said that levels of contamination vary widely depending on where the toilet is. A small office may not be a problem, but a hospital or a cruise ship where viruses may be circulating are different.
Remember, viruses transfer not only by hands. It is the main way, but not the only one. “Spray could travel around six feet from the flush,” Dr. Ackerley said. That’s why you shouldn’t leave your toothbrush close to the toilet and put your phone down on the toilet roll holder or any shelf that might be there.
By the way, germs could survive up to a couple of days on your phone! “Phones heat up a little bit giving bacteria a nice warm environment,” Dr. Ron Cutler said. “If people handle sweets and leave a sticky coating on the phone, that’s an even better place for bacteria.” So don’t forget to wash your hands with soap and water and leave the phone in your bag before visiting the toilet

MUST READ! 5 Things You Shouldn’t Do With Your Android device

MUST READ! 5 Things You Shouldn’t Do With Your Android Device

We use our smartphones for many things in our professional and private lives. Therefore, we should try to ensure they last as long as possible. Many take precautions like installing anti-virus software and closing background apps, but are these steps really necessary? Here are five things you’re doing wrong with your Android device.

1. Using task killers or manually closing applications
Many of us use task killers or close applications manually from the recent apps menu. But without realizing it that could be harming the performance of our device.
When we first open an app, part of its data is becomes stored in the RAM. This means that when you open the app a second time, it will load faster because of the existence of this previously cached data.
If you remove the app from the recent apps menu, or delete the cache, the data stored in the RAM is lost also. If you then wish to reopen it you have to start this process again.
Only close applications if you must, for instance, if they are draining a lot of battery or occupying too many resources while in the background.

2. Using more than one antivirus app
If you feel that you need an antivirus program on your Android device then you should bear in mind that they take up resources like RAM and battery: these are intensive applications that run in the background all the time. But having more than one doesn’t make you safer. If you decide to use an antivirus app then make sure you choose wisely among the many available and only use one at a time.

3. Ignoring software updates
The operating system of your smartphone needs to be updated periodically to repair deficiencies in security. As soon as you notice an update, accept it. You can even set up your Android device to update automatically. The security of your phone will thank you. It will perform better and be more efficient.

4. Downloading applications from unreliable sources
Android APK files can be manipulated to contain malicious software which can infect your device. Make sure all your downloads come from reliable sources such as the Google Play Store.

5. Not restarting your smartphone
There is a lot of controversy surrounding this topic. However, rebooting your device once a week is ‘healthy’. On the one hand, memory is saved and temporarily cached data is deleted because it is no longer needed. On the other hand, sometimes memory is blocked and that temporary data is not deleted, which can lead to slowdowns.

Look for your most comfortable place to read,It could be school or your room, anywhere you think you will assimilate on time, I'll advice reading in school to avoid distractions at home.

5. Read with Exam Timetable
By this,  I mean read according to the orders of your papers,Do not read your first paper last or last paper first because you only have a short period to read.

6. Know little about Everything
It's better to know little about everything than everything about little. I don't mean knowing definitions only but little about definitions, characteristic and so on.

7. Talk less
Avoid talking too much before the exam so as not to forget the little you read.

8. Mingle with Brilliant people before the exam.
By this, you will be surprised you gained something you never knew exists.

9. Don't panic
Be settled and confident in the examination hall, if you panic, you can forget the little you read.

10. Avoid Examination malpractice
With just little you read, you wouldn't want to loose marks. So, keep off from malpractice. It's better to write the little you know and gain few marks than indulge in malpractice and loose all marks.

Jamb Point sytem; What uniosun Aspirants need to know

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation
Board has announced the release of its
guidelines for the 2016 admissions’ process.
The method, described as the point system
option, was adopted after an extensive one-
week meeting JAMB had with universities
and other tertiary institutions’
administrators in the country.
According to the guidelines contained in a
statement placed on its website on Monday
night, JAMB said that the modalities were
going to be based on point system.
While explaining how the admission process
would work for Unified Tertiary Matriculation
Examination candidates and direct entry
students, the organisation stated that
universities were going to charge fees for
screening of candidates at the end of the
process for admission.
According to JAMB, the new method uses a
point system to offer provisional admission
to candidates.
“Before a candidate can be considered for
screening, he/she must have been offered a
provisional admission by JAMB. The JAMB
admission checker portal is going to be
opened soon for this process, so praying is
all you can do now,” JAMB said.
The second process, it said, was the point
system where admission would depend on
the point tally of the candidate.
The statement said, “JAMB’s provisional
admission no longer makes much sense this
year, your points tally will decide your faith.
The points are evenly spread out between
your O’ Level and JAMB results to provide a
level-playing field for all.
“In the first case, any candidate who
submits only one result which contains his/
her relevant subjects already has 10 points.
The exam could be NECO, WASSCE,
November/December WASSCE etc, but any
candidate who has two sittings only gets 2
points. So this means that candidates with
only one result are at an advantage but only
just.”
The organisation added that the “next point
grades fell into the O’ Level grades where
each grade would have it equivalent point;
A=6 marks, B=4 marks, C=3 marks, so the
better the candidates’ grades, the better
his or her chances of securing admission
this year.
“The next point is the UTME scores where
each score range has its equivalent point
which can be summarised thus,
180-200=20-23 marks, 200-250=24-33
points, 251-300=34-43, 300-400=44-60
points,” JAMB explained.
Giving a breakdown, JAMB explained that
each category would contain five JAMB
results per point added.
For example a candidate with 180-185 gets
20 points, while a candidate with 186-190
gets 21 points.
JAMB added that the point system for direct
entry would be released soon.
JAMB stated that fees would still be charged
for screening which would replace the Post
UTME test.
JAMB also emphasised that catchment and
educationally less-developed state would still
be used for admission into the nation’s
tertiary institutions.
JAMB said, “Merit contains 45 per cent of
the total candidates for a particular course,
Catchment contains 35 per cent and ELDS
and staff lists contains the rest. Cut off
marks will be released by the institutions
this year in the form of points and not
marks.
“If a school declares its cut off mark for
Medicine as 90 points and JAMB grants a
candidate with 250 a provisional admission
but his/her total points falls short of the 90
points, then he/she will lose the admission.
So the provisional admission is just a means
to an end, not the end in itself.”
